Photojournalism
While my focus isn’t always on photography, I’ve found that I truly enjoy taking pictures—whether it’s capturing the raw emotion of actors during pre-showings for musicals or snapping random shots on my phone at school events. There’s something rewarding about capturing those unexpected, meaningful moments, whether they’re on stage or playing a game. I find joy in using my phone to document the world around me. It’s a creative outlet that allows me to express myself and showcase the passions of South Salem High students in a different way.
Drama Preformances

Taking photographs during a drama performance highlights the emotional highs and lows the actors aim to convey. Actors focus on perfecting their art and capturing those heartfelt moments can be very exciting. A photo can show the energy of a scene in a freezable moment in time. Pictures can showcase the stories of laughter, friendship, and the dedication behind creating something truly beautiful.
I love attending and taking pictures for the drama department because there is a slower-pace to them with scenes that allow me to concentrate on achieving the perfect shot.

While my main focus is to manage and capture photos for the The Clypian Instagram, I also do the same for the South Salem Girls Flag Football team. While I am also a part of the team, I still have the opportunity to take pictures and create content when I'm on the field. Our handle, she_scores_tds, gives me so much joy and life because of how fun and lighthearted it is. Girls flag football is entering its third year as a sport in Oregon, and with Nike's support, it has expanded from just 8 teams to over 60. I'm grateful to have been a part of this team since the beginning and witnessed its growth. Last year, we won the state championship at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, going 12-0 for the season. It was an incredibly rewarding experience. I enjoyed playing and creating engaging content for our Instagram and growing our team's following. Above are some photos I took during the spring season.
Miscellaneous

Each of these photos holds a special place in my heart as they each tell unique stories and feature numerous individuals and groups. From choir concerts to signing letters of intent, and the picture-perfect moment of tossing caps at graduation, they all carry significant meaning.
As part of my role at The Clypian, I need to produce content that is timely to capture events before they become irrelevant. I achieve this by using my iPhone to capture many of these moments. The iPhone technology has made it easy to create high-quality work. With my iPhone 14 Pro, I can take excellent pictures, and with its impressive zoom it allows me to do much more as well. I can zoom onto the field from the stands when I can't access it directly or zoom in on the band performance from the auditorium seats. These iPhone tools help me be a better reporter.
